MINUTES OF THE JUNE 6th MEETING OF THE PORT KIWANIS

  NEXT MEETING:  Tuesday June 13th at Mama Mia's at 6:30 P.M.
  Andy Makautz is scheduled to have the Speaker.
  Board meeting---Sat. June 10th at 8:00A.M. at the Rusty Anchor.
  Foundation  Tues. June 13 th at Mama Mia's at 5:45 P.M.
   
  MEETING: The meeting was called to order at 7:35 P.M. by Pres. Dan Hargarten. It was our first meeting at Mama Mia's. The novelty of a new restaurant brought many customers to the restaurant. Parking was hard to find. On top of that we had a banner Kiwanis turn out. Once we got seated and served , the meeting went smoothly.
  Attendance----26 members and 7  guests. The guests were Elmer Adam and his companion Iva Jean ,The scholarship recipient, 
  Nicki Steinmetz and her parents Diana and Mike, and E. Nelson and his mother.

  Thought----Two types of people-Those who believe in Miracles and those who don't. By Jeff.
  Drawing ------We held two drawings each for $8:00, the first was won by Denny Williamson and the second by Lowell. The club got $9:00.
   
  ANNOUNCEMENTS:
  1. Jim Olson showed people from Venezuela around Port. He invited them to come to a Kiwanis Meeting, They said , What is Kiwanis? and JIm said " Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time". Good sales talk Jim.
  2. Fish Day July 15th. Last meeting before Fish Day is June 15th at the Masonic Center. I don't know the time. We still need a fryer clean-up day. It will be scheduled. We booked the Narly Barly Boys as the musical entertainment.
  3. Siebkins Breakfast at 7:00A.M. ,Thursday June 8th.4. George Lampert returned to the club meeting after about a 2 month recouperation from Pneumonia ,etc. Good to see you back George!!!!
   
  GOOD NEWS:
  The following all had good news this past week and contributed $13 to the club: Denny Williamson , Dan Hargarten , Nicki Steinmetz , Barb Kobishop , Jim OLson , Marc Eernisse , Ralph Hess , Sally , John Sigwart , Weldon , Louise  and the scholarship student Nelson.
   
  PROGRAM: Jeffrey Callies Introduced the Scholarship Recipients,
  Nickie Steinmetz Is going to attend Marquette and Major in 
theology and Phsycology. Mr . Nelson is also going to Marquette and will Major in Business and Spanish.
   
  CALENDAR OF EVENTS:
  Sat. June 10th Board at Rusty Anchor at 8 A.M.
  Wed. June 7th meals on wheels.
  Thurs. June 8th , Siebken's Breakfast.
  Tues. June 13th Foundation at 5:45 P.M.  .Club meeting at 6:30.
