MINUTES OF THE MAY 30th MEETING OF THE PORT KIWANIS

  NEXT MEETING: Confirmed. It will be at MAMA MIA's at 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday June
6th. Jeff Callies will have the Kiwanis scholarship recipients as the Program.
  BOARD meeting at the Rusty Anchor on Saturday June 10th at 8 A.M.
   
  MEETING: The meeting was held at the Parkside Grill in Saukville. It was called to
order at 7:10 P.M. by Pres. Dan Hargarten.
  Attendance--------24 Members and 3 guests, Theguests were Elmer Adam , Max
Mitchell and the speaker of the evening Kathy Schmit from COPE.

  Pledge-------------Led by Pres. Dan.
  Song---------------"God Bless America".
  Drawing-----------Won by Liz Erlwig. $ 11 to the Club.
  Thought-----------By Pres. Dan. Lana Turner's thoughts about a successful marriage.
   
  ANNOUNCEMENTS:
  1. Plymouth Scholarship awards---Monday June 5th. They woyld like a rep from
eachclub in Div. 11. It is at the Plymouth Restaurant at 6 P.M.
  2.Kiwanis of Greater Sheboygan SIEBKEN'S BREAKFAST. Bill Schroeder of Packer Fame
is the speaker. Breakfast at 7 A.M. In Elkhart Lake. It looks like we will have
about 6 going. Call me if you want to go at 284- 0788.
  3. Disc Golf ---June 10th, Stoughton.
  4. Mardy has Playground shirts for $15.
  5. Can recepticles need to be Logo'ed. WE will discuss at the Board meeting.
  6. Ralph reported  about $1870 to Children's Hospital.
  7. The newly elected slate of officers were reported to International.
   
  GOOD NEWS: Ten attendees had good news last week and contributed $13.
   
  PROGRAM:
  Pres. Dan introduced, Kathy Schmit,  a representative of COPE SERVICES . Kathy
told of how th Service is operated 24/7 by 60 volunters who range in age from 18
to 91. When COPPE first started they had less than 100 calls from throughout
Ozaukee County. Last Year there were 20,037. Many calls are fromdepressed people
who need someone to talk to. Others are on the verge of suicide. How does it feel
to save a life?
  A very worthwhile service. Thanks , Dan, for bringing Kathy.
