MINUTES OF THE SEPT. 18th MEETING OF THE PORT KIWANIS
Sept. 18 , 2007 No.51 ,2006-2007
NEXT MEETING: Tuesday Sept. 25th at 6:30 P.M. at Nisleit's. Paul Quail will have the
program. He will be taking us on a West to East trip by train , across Canada.
Foundation Meeting at 5:45 P.M.
MEETING: The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Pres. John Sigwart. There
was a fantastic turn out of members.
Attendance--------27members and one guest. Karen brought a young lady as a guest. I
didn't get her name but her table made her feel welcome. The meeting was hectic.
Every seat was taken and noise from the surrounding rooms made it difficult to hear
the speakers.
Prayer-----By Marvin Huiras.
Pledge----Led by Pres. John.
Song-------Dixie led by the Gene Giltner table. Followed by Linda accompaning us on
the Violin as we sang Happy Birthday Marc and Linda.
Auction-------A cup & saucer and a bag of coffee all wrapped up with ribbons and
bows brought $9. It was bought by Carol Boehle.
Raffle-------Won by Gene Giltner. $13 to the club.
GOOD NEWS: Lots of good news. Beaucoups of dollars.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1. Mardy announced that "The Possibility Play Ground Foundation" has been awarded
the 501 C3 rating. This allows donations to be tax deductible.
2. Mardy also announced that today the Possibility Playground received a $ 50,000
donation.
3. Playground meeting Thursday Sept. 20th at 6:30 at St. John's Academy.
4.Karen attended the Key Club meeting. There were 25 attendees.
5.Rev. Knox announced that he is retiring from the Lutheran church in Grafton and
moving to Texas to be near his daughter and grandchild. He will be resigning from
our club but plans to take membership in a Kiwanis club in Uvalde, Tx. He has been
asked to take the minister position at a church where he was once a minister in
Knippa , Tx.
He tried to retire but they won't let him.
6. First Year Parenting--- We had to drop that program because we couldn't get the
names from the hospital.We will look into how to get it going again.
7.State Convention---Sally reported on the memorial service for the departed
members. Division 11 lost two, Elroy Fenn of Lakeshore Sunrise and George Lampert of
our club. A white carnation was presented in memory of each. Sally gave George's
Carnation to Weldon and Louise for all the assistance they gave to their good
neighbors.
8. To do with Halloween--- The theme this year is "The Past Comes Back To Haunt You".
9. Circle K meeting in the Library at Concordia at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday Sept. 25th.????
10. Sally was presented a Lt. Gov's. Patch for the year 2006-2007. Louise will
attach it to our banner.
11. A recalculation by the Fish Day committee gave us an extra $800+ raising our net
to over $12,000.
PROGRAM: Jeff Callies was prepared to give us a program on magic in the classroom.
However the Laptop wouldn't cooperate. We'll see it another time.

2.October 2nd ,first meeting of the new year. Wed. Oct. 3rd Meals on wheels.
3. We need a Speaker schedule!!!!!.
