MINUTES OF THE AUGUST 7th MEETING OF THE PORT KIWANIS
August 7 ,2007 No.44 , 2006-2007
NEXT MEETING: Tuesday Aug. 14th at 6:30 P.M. at Nisleit's. Paul Ehrlich will have
the speaker who will talk on Jail Literacy. Inter-Club from Greater Sheboygan.
The Club Board Meeting will be Sat. Aug.11th at 8 A.M. at the Rusty Anchor. Weldon,
Paul and Sally will not be there. Will some one take some notes?
MEETING: The meeting was called to order at 7:20 P.M. by Pres. Elect Sally
Schirk-Ehrlich.
Attendance--------20 members and Carol Boehle who filed papers to join tonight.
AlsoElmer Adam and the Speaker of the evening Bob Holland, Ex. Dir. of the
Saukville-Port YMCA.
Prayer--------By Jeff Callies.
Pledge--------Led By Pres. Elect Sally.
Song ---------We were going to sing "Take Me Out To THe Ball Game " but never got
around to it.
Drawing-------Won By Marc Eernisse. $10 to the club.
Raffle---------Gene Giltner Donated a package of Genuine Wisconsin Venison Sausage.
Sally bought it for $6.
GOOD NEWS: Lots of members couldn't wait to donate their dollar for their Good
News. We have a very Up Beat-Club!!
ANNOUNCEMENTS: 1. The Possibility Playground Committee sent a thank-you to the club
for our contribution of about $3000.
2. District Foundation------The Foundation sent $5 per member X 38 to the District.
3. Badger Girl----Our Badger Girl sent a Thank - You for sending her. She had a
wonderful experience.
4. SPANFERKEL------At New Holstein Monday Aug. 27th. at 6 P.M.. Sally has sign-up
sheet. Over the years we have had many Interclub's at New Holstein.
5. MARITIME HERITAGE DAYS--- We had our Sno-Cone booth and sold enough to cover our
expenses except for the Rental booth which cost us $160. Karen has $38 toward this
bill. We had a great time manning the stand but the weather just wasn't hot enough
to engender lots of sales.
Better luck next time.
The hair up-sweep and chair massage business was booming. The Possibility Playground
Probably will get a nice sum from the volunteer work done by Bella Lei personnel.
6. JENNY and KENNY MITCHELL-----Sent a Thank-you Letter for our card wishing her the
best in her wait for the baby's arrival . Kenny has a new job in Franklin which is
keeping him very busy.
PROGRAM: Karen introduced the Executive Director of the Saukville-Port YMCA, Bob
Holland.
Bob told of the programs being put on by the "Y". He also told of the cooperation of
the "Y" with community groups. Bob read a letter from two sisters who expressed
their thanks for the "Y" personnel teaching them to swim better so they could go to
camp and swim in the deep end of the pool. Bob is dedicated to the YMCA. He started
working part time at the "Y" in Milwaukee in 1991. He has worked in Tennessee but
came back to the Sheboygan area to be near family. Our area is lucky to have him as
our "Y"Exec. Dir. Thanks Karen For Bringing Bob.
