Tuesday meeting

          MINUTES OF THE JANUARY 9th MEETING OF THE PORT KIWANIS

Jan. 09 , 2007                                                                      
       No. 15 , 2006-2007

NEXT MEETING: Tues. Jan. 16th at the Paramount Restaurant in Grafton at 6:30 P.M.
Board meeting is at 8 A.M. Sat. Jan. 13th at the Rusty Anchor.
Kiwanis Governor's Banquet  at the Horizon room in the new shopping center East of
West Bend just off of Hwy 33.at 6 P.M.

MEETING:
The meeting was called to order by Pres. John Sigwart at 7:05 P.M.
Attendance----22 members and 4 guests. 2 Key Club members and the speaker of the
evening, Brittney Ison and her mother.
Prayer----A moment of silence for long time member ,George Lampert  and then a
prayer by Pres. John.
Pledge------Led by Pres. John.
Song----The Kiwanis Gang Song.
Drawing----Won by Jeff Callies. He divided it with the two Key Club guests. $9 to
the club.    

Eulogy to George: John recalled working for George when he was Mayor of Port  and
how George appointed him to run Fish Day. The appointment lasted 17 years.  George
ran a good show whether he was Mayor, County Supervisor or Sr. Vice Commander of the
VFW. He had Class. George always wore a suit. One of his proudest moments was
welcoming President Reagan to Port. We miss you George. Rev. Knox spoke of the
friendship that he and George had formed through Kiwanis. At Rev. Knox's suggestion
we will set aside a "RIDERLESS CHAIR" at our meetings for one month, in remembrance
of him.    

GOOD NEWS: Quite a few members had good news and contributed to the administration
fund.

PROGRAM: Brittney Ison who we helped sponsor as a contestant to the AMERICAN MISS
PAGEANT in Los Angles returned from her adventure to tell us how she fared. Brittney
was awarded a half dozen trophy's and ribbons and told us how the experience has
given her a better outlook on humanity.

AGENDA:1. Kohler Christmas Party- We had 12 members attend (interclub).
2. Foundation Meeting--Will be at 5:45 P.M. the 13th of February.
3. Bldrs Club. Lowell attended. Club is making pieces of clothing for the needy.
Both Girls and Boys are sewing .
4.Membership Meeting---Put off until Tues. Feb. 20th.
5. Public Relations--Karen wants some Kiwanis info on George to send to KIWANEWS.
Weldon will lend her the Kiwanis Album.She will then lend it to the Mitchell's so
they can use it to build a bulletin.
6.Chili Cook-off--Barb is getting an okay to conduct it at the Yacht Club.
7.Community Service--Jenny Mitchell has prepared a Service Interest Survey. I will
be getting it out to the members. Fill it out and return to Jenny.
8. Sponsored Youth-- Will try to start a Circle K club at Concordia Un. in the fall.
9.Playground---Mardy reporting--Easter egg hunt the Sat. before Easter in Upper Lake
Park.
Park Rec. Board voted 5 to 0 to put the playground in upper lake park.
10.Sponsor for Lawn Mower Safety Program which use to be sponsored by the Jr.
Women's Club. WE will probably do it.

OLD NEWS: The overlook park. No agreement of the neighborhood and the city as of yet
Jim Olson will look into it .

LETTER FROM Gwen Zywicke  in hot and humid BUKOBA. We gave a donation to the orphan
project she is involved with in Africa. She has an album of photos on the computer
