MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 12th MEETING OF THE PORT KIWANIS

NEXT MEETING: Tuesday ,Dec. 19th at 6:30 P.M at Nisleit"s .John Sigwart will have a speaker.
Saturday Dec. 16th we man the Salvation Army Kettle and Ring the Bell from 8A.M
until 5 P.M.in front of Wal Marts. A sign-up sheet went around. Don't forget your
time. We are only doing an hour each shift.
MEETING : The meeting was called to order at 7:15 P.M. by President John Sigwart.
Attendance--------21 Members and the Speaker Dennis Ansay representing the
Salvation Army and Max Mitchell.
Prayer---------------BY Bud Miser.
Pledge--------------Led by Pres. John.
Song----------------Jingle Bells led by Gene and Jerry.
Drawing------------Won by Denny Williamson. $ 9 to the club and since Denny won last week he donated the $8 to the club.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:1. The GOOD NEWS topping the announcements was that 257
items of clothes,baby items ,socks,underwear etc. valued at about $600 were donated
to the Advocates for those who use the facility. A thank you letter was received by Helen and the Club from the Advocates Executive Director, Barbara Fisher.
2. Foundation meeting, some requests for assistance were tabled until later. They did donate $100 to Gwen Zywicke for the African Orphanage Project in Tanzania. We will also support one Badger Girl for $225.
3. Walter Buchel passed away last Friday. The viewing and Mass was held Monday
evening. Many members of Kiwanis paid their respects. Pres. John spoke with Joe Buchel and invited he and his wife Sue to our meeting ,Tuesday Jan. 16th at the
Paramount restaurant in Grafton. They accepted.
4. Kohler Christmas party will be held at the American Club at noon Wednesday
December 20th. About a dozen of our members will attend. If you wish to go call Sally before this Friday 284-2590.
5. Key Club. Jeff Callies spoke with the Key Club Advisor, Emily Schmidt. She is very enthusiastic about the club and will arrange to have some members attend our meetings. The planned dates are the second Tues. in Jan. and the second Tues. in Feb.
6.Kenny and Jenny are Co-chairing the Community Service Committee. They sent around a form for all to fill out with suggestions as to what projects we should be
looking at for the community.
7. Playground location---The Park- Rec.Board are to recommend an area by the 14th.
This will then be submitted to the council on the 19th.
8.Admirals Kiwanis Fun Game is Jan.27th. A sign -up sheet went around.
PROGRAM: Pres. John introduced Dennis Ansay, the local Salvation Army representative.
Dennis told of the many projects for the citizens of Ozaukee County who are in need of financial help such as rent, medical aid, school children to get the bare necessities.
Ring the Bell loud and clear on Saturday and count your many blessings.
