MINUTES OF THE NOVEMBER 28th MEETING OF THE PORT KIWANIS
Nov. 28 , 2006 No.9 , 2006-2007
NEXT MEETING: Christmas Party at Nisleit's on Tuesday Dec. 5th. President Elect
Sally will conduct the meeting. The H.S. Madrigal Singers will present a program at
P.M., with dinner to follow at P.M.
Bring your White Gifts , unwrapped , to be placed in the Advocates Gift Box. It will
be delivered by two elves.
Also bring your check book . There will be a special auction of some very nice items
being donated by Marc and Grace.
MEETING : The meeting was called to order at 7:17 P.M. by President John Sigwart.
Attendance-------23 Members and two guests, Max Mitchell and the new Key Club
Advisor, Emily Schmidt.
Prayer--------By Pres. John.
Pledge--------Led by Pres. John.
Song-----------Joy To The World, led by Pres. John.
Drawing------Won by Paul Ehrlich. $11 to the club.
Auction--------About one pound of Canadian bacon home cured using an old family
recipe and smoked to perfection was donated by Gene Giltner. It was bought by Karen
for $11.
Karen donated a 6 pack of home brewed POP.
It brought $21 and was purchased by Marc.
Thanks guys that really helps the Administration fund.
KEY CLUB ADVISOR: Bob Koch introduced Emily Schmidt, the new math teacher at Port
High who has volunteered to be our Key Club Advisor for the 2006-2007 Kiwanis year.
Emily went to H.S. in Cedarburg and then to the Un.of Wis.in Madison where she
graduated with a degree in Education. Emily told us that she has been getting help
from Kiwanians and past advisors. Meetings have been held with about 40 interested
students attending.
The Foundation has voted to pay for two Key Club members per month to attend our
meetings.
FUND RAISERS: Pres. John asked for 2 or 3 members who get to see each other quite
often to come up with suggestions for fund raisers. Barb Kobishop , JIm Olson and
Karen Oleski volunteered. They have already discussed this and have made the
following suggestions. First we will not do a lobster fest this year. Second they
are planning to have a chili cook-off at the Yatch Club onMarch 4th.
KOHLER CHRISTMAS PARTY: Dec. 20th at the American Club. Let Sally know how many are
going.
KIWANIS NIGHT AT THE ADMIRAL'S GAME:
January 27th . Cost is $15 per ticket and Kiwanis gets $3. A sign-up sheet went around.
QUARTERLY EAT OUT: We will go to the PARAMOUNT Restaurant in Grafton on Tues.
January the 16th, 2007. This is the night that we would have been bumped from our
meeting room at Nisleit's by the After 5:30 club. The cost is $14 tax and tip
included.
COMPOSITION OF A LETTER EXTOLLING KIWANIS ACTIVITIES IN AND AROUND PORT WASHINGTON:
Pres. John appointed a group of 4 Captains to collect and compose such a letter to
be published in the Ozaukee Press.
GOOD NEWS: About a half dozen members had good news and contributed a dollar to the
Administration Fund.
