MINUTES OF THE NOVEMBER 14th MEETING OF THE PORT KIWANIS

Nov. 14 , 2006                                           No. 7 , 2006-2007

NEXT MEETING: Tues. Nov. 21st at 6:30 P.M. at Neislet's Restaurant. I do not have a
scheduled Speaker for next week,  however if no one has one I can probably get Kenny
Matthews to speak on Wheel Chair Olympics.
Let me know in the next day or so if someone has a speaker scheduled.

MEETING : THe meeting was called to order by Pres. John Sigwart at 7:10 P.M.
Attendance----18 Members and 4 guests. The guests were Gwen Zywiche  the Speaker,
Cathy Wiskow Jerry's wife, Derek Knox Rev. Knox's son and an old friend Bud Miser. 
Prayer----Rev. Knox's son Derek sang a verse of the Song "Edelweiss" then we all
joined in and sang the song as our prayer of the evening.
Pledge------Led by Pres. John.
Song----"He's Got The Whole World In His Hand"
Drawing-----Won by Karen , $11 to the club.
Auction------Gene Giltner donated a can of carmel ,nut  pop-corn. Jim Olson
auctioned it off. Karen bought it for $17.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: The Park Board meet last week.They are seriously looking at a spot on
the Upper Bluff. A decision should be made by December.
2. Circle K----Hope to have one started at Concordia by Dec.
3. Fun Committee needs ideas for the X-Mas party.  Also has suggested that we bring
childrens gifts such as underwear, etc. for the children at the Advocates. We hope
to get some PR out of it.
4. America Miss Pageant--- Britney Ison sent a thank you letter for the donation we
made to her so she can go to L.A. and participate.
5. Fund Raising--Still need someone to assist Gene.

GOOD NEWS: 
We all had our picture in the Kiwanews. This brought in many dollars. Many others
also had good news. This should help the club general fund.

FOUNDATION REPORT:
Donations as follows:
1.Ben Carin Educational Foundation--$100.00
2.Food Pantry--Thanksgiving $200 , Christmas $200.
3.Key Club---Pay for 2 Key Clubbers per month to attend our meetings.
4. Peanut Day receipts to go to the Playground Fund and the foundation to match it.
5. Concert Choir Trip to Italy-$500.
6. Juvenille Diabetes Research Foundation $100.

PROGRAM: Jerry Wiskow introduced Gwen Zywicke , an Adjunct Prof. at Cardinal Strich
and Alverna colleges. Gwen has been working on an African Orphanage Project in
Bukoba, Tanzania, East Africa. She is soliciting funds to make the orphanage self
sufficient.

CALENDAR OF EVENTS: Sat. Nov.18th at 8:00 A.M. the Board will meet at the Rusty
Anchor. Tues. Nov. 21 at Nisleits at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5th the Christmas Party at
Nisleit's.
