MINUTES OF THE OCTOBER 24th MEETING OF THE PORT KIWANIS

October 24 ,2006                               No. 4 ,2006-2007

NEXT MEETING: Tuesday October 31 @ 6:30 P.M. at Nisleit's restaurant.Either Jerry
Wiskow or Karen Oleski will have the program. They will work it out.

MEETING: The meeting was called to order by Pres. John Sigwart at 7:20 P.M.
Attendance---------21 members and the speaker of the evening Gina Taucher from the
County system.
Prayer---------By Marc Eernisse.
Pledge--------Led by Pres. John.
Song--------When Kiwanis Calls , Led by Dan Hargarten.
Drawing-------Won By Ralph. $11 to the club. 
Thought-------By Jim OLson , Your thought will be better accepted if you say it was
first said by Benjamin Franklin.

ANNOUNCEMENTS ; Pres. John  reported that his Mother -in-law passed away a few days
ago. She will be flown back to Ohio for burial.
Grace Eernisse lost a diamond from her ring at the Board meeting at the Rusty
Anchor. It was found by the staff and returned to Grace.
Elmer Adam sent a check for the meals he ate with us during his summer visit to
Port. You are always welcome, Elmer.
Division Council Meeting---Was held at the Firehouse Pizza in Sheboygan Falls Monday
evening . Lt gov. Sally conducted a very good meeting. Five clubs had members
attend.  Bob Englander a Board Member of the Kiwanis District Foundation spoke to us
about how the Fund operates. Funds come from our annual contribution of $5 per
member and from the Case Van Cleef Fellowship.  Of Interest to us was the
clarification of matching funds to scholarships. These may be awarded 3 years in a
row then must lay off for 1 year.
Funds are also available for some worthy projects.

Weldon reported that the Annual Report has been filed.

Governor's Dinner will be in West Bend at the Horizon Room  on Jan. 13 , 2007. More
Info to Follow.
K-University -Feb. 17 , 2007 at Stevens Point. This will be in lieu of the
Mid-Winter conference.

Hat Pictures----Karen will have them for$1 (each ?)

FUN: next week will be Halloween dress-up night. Prizes will be given for Most
Creative , Funniest and whatever.

Welcome to Gary Boehle our newest member,.

Christmas Party will be December 5th. The High School chorus will entertain us.

WOYC--A meeting will be scheduled in November.

PEANUT DAY: Saturday November 4th from 8 A.M. until 4 P.M. at Piggly Wiggly , Wal
-Mart and Sentry.
Schedules have been set. Call Louise if you have a problem ( 284-0788 ).

PROGRAM: Jim Olson Introduced Gina Taucher who told us of the Project to Renovate
the old Court House to its original Grandeur. The Cost about $500,000 to be raised
by fund raisers and contributions. The County board has pledged a matching fund of
$250,000. 
For Christmas the Courthouse, The Eghart house and the Light house will be
decorated. This will be called the DECK THE HALLS EVENT. 
Dec.2nd Gala at the Court House. Food and Silent Auction. Dec.9th Tours. Dec. 10th
Formal Tea Party.

It is a county wide project. Let's try to help the project along.

meeting.     Wed. Nov. 6th Meals on Wheels.
