MINUTES OF THE OCTOBER 10th MEETING OF THE PORT KIWANIS

NEXT MEETING: Tuesday ,Oct. 17th at 6:30 P.M. at Nisleit's Restaurant. Karen Oleski
will supply the speaker. It will be Dr. Josh Lue Leute. His topic is "Buried
Treasures In Lake Michigan".
Board meeting is Sat. Oct.14th at the Rusty Anchor at 8 A.M.
MEETING: The meeting was called to order at 7:15 P.M. by Pres. Elect Sally.

Drawing--- Won by Marvin Huiras. $8 to the club.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Thank you from Louise and Weldon for the gift presented to them for
their Kiwanis Service for the past 10 years.
Peanut Day ---SAT. Nov. 4th. Louise is assembling a sign up sheet for can time.

Oostburg presentation of Mark Green as Speaker on Thursday, Oct. 19th at 12:00 noon
at the Campus Life Building in Sheboygan.Cost of lunch is $5:50.

My People Food Bank in Eau Claire sent a thank you for our donation at the convention.
Foundation---$150 to Mardy for the WOYC. Half the bill for our Web site. Officers
were elected. I'll have their names next week.
MEMBERSHIP: we are submitting the membership forms for our latest new members. They
are Geoff Giltner and Gary Boehle. Welcome aboard Guys. We'll try to keep you busy
with our projects and fund raisers. This brings our membership to 40. We are
shooting for 50 by years end.
GOOD NEWS: Lots of good news , probably at least $10. Barb had bad news, her 14 year
old family dog passed away.
PROGRAM: Ralph Introduced George Lampert's Speaker of the evening, Ozaukee County
Sheriff Maury Straub. Sheriff Straub talked about law enforcement in the county. We
have a group of law enforcement officers who are very dedicated and are supported by
the citizens of Ozaukee.
Sheriff Straub went onto tell how we have the lowest crime rate in the state. This
he attributes to the wealth , education , nuclear families, large numbers practicing
their religions and good law enforcement.
It was a good program, George. Maury said it has been 10 years since he last visited
Kiwanis.
