MINUTES OF THE SEPTEMBER 26th MEETING OF THE PORT KIWANIS

NEXT MEETING: Tues. Oct. 3rd at 6:30 P.M. in the Fire-Place room of Nisleit's.
This is the installation of the Officers for the 2006-2007 year. The installation
will be
conducted by Div. 11 Lt. Governor Sally S. Ehrlich. We hope to have the Ozaukee
Press present to take pictures .
MEETING: The meeting was called to order at 7:15 P.M. by Pres. Dan Hargarten.
Attendance-----20 members and 2 guests, Mary Lyn McGarry the speaker of the
evening and Max Mitchel.

Pledge------Led by Pres. Dan.
Song---------"He'll Be Coming Around The Mountain" For John Sigwart who will be
coming around to take over the President duties next week.

What is Kiwanis? Asked by Mardy's Sister-in-law. We told her.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: 1. Meetings for the coming year will be at Nisleit's.
2. Next week--Changing of the guard.
3. Peanut Day is scheduled for Sat. Nov. 4th. Peanuts have been ordered.
4. Bay Shore Mall tour. Tours at 8 A.M til 10 A.M. If interested see Dan.
5.Election of Regional Trustee at a meeting called in West Bend.. John Sigwart
attended and a new trustee was unanimously elected. I'll have his name next week.
GOOD NEWS: 6 members and one guest had good news to the tune of $12.
Also good news was reported by incoming Pres. John tha 6 of the 8 cohairs have been
filled.
We still need a Fund Raising Chair.
PROGRAM: Mardy introduced her sister-in-law Mary McGarry who is an R.N. visiting nurse
associated with Hospice Care of Rock County. Mary told of the first hospice starting
in Connecticutt in 1965. It was based on a European system. Itwas all volunteer
until 1984.
In 1985 medicare said they would support it.
Today the Hospice systeem around the Madison area has265 employees and over 600
volunteers.
Their object is to bring quality dignity and comfort to Hospice Care patients and
families.
It was a great program Mardy,thanks for bringing Mary Lyn.

Also the Foundation Meeting at 5:45 P. M.
