MINUTES OF THE AUGUST 8th MEETING OF THE PORT KIWANIS
   
  August 8 , 2006                                     No.45 , 2005-2006
   
  NEXT MEETING: Tuesday at 6:30 P.M. at Nisleit's.  We will have a speaker or the
Fish Day Report !
   
  BOARD MEETING on Saturday , Aug. 12th at 8 A.M. at the Rusty Anchor. All Club
members are always invited to the meeting.
   
  MEETING: The meeting was called to order at 7:15 P.M. by Pres. Dan Hargarten. 
  Attendance---- 20 members,  Loschel Perringer a guest of George Lampert and Nancy
Hundt the Spesker for the evening.
  Prayer-----By Pres. Dan.
  Pledge----- Led by Pres. Dan.
  Song-----Oh Susanna , led by Mardy's Table.
  Thought------From a movie about a man jumping off a 12 story building and heard
saying as he fell "So far so good!!
  Drawing -----Won by Nancy our Speaker. She donated it to the Foundation. $11 to
the Club.
   
  ANNOUNCEMENTS: 
  1. Both Denny Williamson and Paul Ehrlich had Birthday's this week. Paul got to
wear the Birthday Hat and Denny wore the "I'll bet mine is bigger than yours hat"
as Jerry took pictures and we sang HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
  2. Board Meeting , Sat. the 12th at 8 A.M., Rusty Anchor.
   3. Annual Convention--Aug. 18,19 and 20th at Eau Clair.  Paul, Sally, Weldon and
Louise are Registered. Bring Non-Perishable foods to the Aug. 15th meeting . Paul
will take them to the Eau Claire Food Pantry. This is The Past Lt. Gov.'s gift to
the Host City.
  4. Foundation Meeting---Gave $100 t0 Oz. Co. Vol. and $100 to the Soccer Club.
  5. New Holstein 31 st Annual SPANFERKEL ,Monday Aug. 28th . Happy hour at 5:30
P.M. with Buffet Dinner at 6:30. $ 12 per person. Res. by Aug . 24th. See Weldon.
  6.  Aluminum Cans--$65.30 to the Foundation for the Playground Fund.
   
  GOOD NEWS: Lots of good news---Ralph ,Barb and Jim , Dan , Dennis W., Paul Ehr. ,
Weldon , Nancy and Loschel contributed $15.
   
  PROGRAM: Jim Olson introduced Nancy Hundt the Director of Ozaukee County Tourism.
The group was formed originally in 1979 ,mainly in Cedarburg. It had a budget of
$3000. It has since expanded to include all of the County. There are 150 members
,businesses, etc. They get $20,000 from the county. With this they put ads in
places like Chicago , Minneapolis , Fox Valley , etc. Also 20,000 brochures to
places like the Zoo and Milwaukee. Another 50,000 are put out through the county
to visitors. All of this has put Ozaukee Co. as 30th of the 72 counties with
respect to Tourism Expendures at $106,330,602. It looks like it Pays to
Advertize!!!!

the 15th at Nisleit's we will have a speaker or the Fish Day Report. 18,19, 20th
Convention in Eau Clair.
