CHRISTMAS PARADE IS A WINNER

“Children of the World Sailing into Port”

was our theme which was the perfect extension of the official theme the Parade Committiee adopted, “Sailing into Port”.

We converted a members power boat into a sailing boat for the evening. Filled it with members of the TJ Builders Club. Marching with our Kiwanis members were Key Club members and our special guests AFS students, Maxwell Botrus (Max) from Egypt, Tamara Diaz Guevara (Peke) from Chile and Thanapa Varavarn Na Ayudhaya (Amp) from Thailand.

A special thank you to the Parade Committee that put together such a super parade with 60 units, the most anyone can remember. Next year they are already talking of how it can be made even better.

The spectators were great also. They stood in that windy 10 degree weather.

POOL TIMING SYSTEM DEDICATED

The bulkhead was to be the first of the ailing pool items to be replaced but a total failure of the old timing system changed the priorities.

At the last Girls swim meet this fall a timing system had to be barrowed.

At the District Men’s Relay Meet held Friday January 5th, the pool was dedicated.

Not only at the end of the event can you clearly see the finish places. In the photo lane #1 finished 7th and lane #3 finished 1st.  During the race it tracks what lane is in a given position. One feature the swimmers like is they can see their time after 50 meters.

Once the new bulkhead is in and there are starting blocks Port will again have the best pool in the district.
