BUILDERS CLUB STARTS NEW SEASON

Mrs.
Ryer talks to the 5th and 6th graders.
Builders
Club kicked off the 2008/2009 season with orientation meetings. The 7th
and 8th graders get out of school 45 minutes earlier than the 5th
and 6th graders so two meetings are held.
Advisor
Deb Ryer told the students about Builders Club being a fun way to learn about
community service. Two Kiwanians Paul Ehrlich and Jerry Wiskow were there; and
Deb talked about Kiwanis and how it is a world wide service club and sponsors their
Builders Club.
She spoke
of the service projects the Builders Club has done in the past. Once officers are elected they will select
projects with the help of the advisors. The first project has already been set
by the advisors since it comes up right away. The will be putting food away at
the Food Pantry that the Boy Scouts collect on Saturday October 25th.
Paul
passes out treats to the 5th and 6th graders at the end of the
meeting.
Mrs.
Maciejewski says they expect over 50 students to become members eventually. Attendance
was slim at these two meetings because they were up against other events. There
won’t be as many conflicts when they get together on their regular meetings on
the first Tuesday of the Month. The first meeting starts at
Kiwanis
members are welcome to attend, but you must check in at the TJ Office first.
NEWEST MEMBERS INDUCTED.
Five
members were inducted at the October 21st meeting, Rick Smith, Gary
and Carol Boehle, Jeanne Maciejewski and Deb Ryer.
“BUILDERS CLUB” MEETING PROGRAM FOR THE EVENING
Builders club
advisors, Jeanne and Deb along with member Nate Ehrlich did a program for the
Kiwanis Club. They presented a power point on the Builders Club activities from
the past years. The advisors also talked about some of the things they would
like to see the club do this year.
Jeanne
is in administration and Deb is a 7th Grade Social Studies Teacher.
Everyone
could see the enthusiasm these advisors had for working with the kids.
