SALLY”S
NIGHT TO ENJOY
Sally
glowed as she presided over this evenings meeting, because she would be turning
the rains over to our new president Karen Oleski.
One
of the joys of being president is giving recognition to the members for their
accomplishments.
The
first award was for “Best Program for the Year”. Sally is starting this as a
way to encourage members to bring in quality programs. It will be a traveling
trophy. Each year the president will present it to the member who had the best
program during her tenure.
This
year the award went to Jerry Wiskow for the program “Against All Odds” the
story of Kailee Wells.

Next
Sally presented Mardy McGarry with an Outstanding Service award for all her
work on Possibility Playground.
The
playground was Mardy’s vision and with the help of her friend Sue Mayer they
made it happen.
John
Sigwart also received an Outstanding Service award for 17 years of heading up
the Kiwanis Fish Day stand. It involves several meetings with the Port Washing
Fish Day committee. Making detailed arrangements, soliciting stand help and one
very long day every 3rd Saturday in July.
The
third Outstanding Service award went to long time member Lowell Tainter for his
years as feisty over seer of the Foundation Funds as its treasurer. And for
always being there to help when ever called upon.
Dedicated
to the point were he said
‘ Son, I’ll hold the nail while you pound on it’. Or, was it Son, ‘here’s how you hold the nail
while you pound it’.

Finally,
Sally’s turn came as husband and club Secretary Paul presented her with her
past president’s pin. This was Sally’s second pin as she had been president of
the
Thanks
Paul.
Thanks
Sally for a great year and all your hard work. A pin well deserved.

Hey
sign maker!
YA?
She
already is pres. President of The Greater Port Washington Kiwanis Club.
Tom
Maurer Suburban District Trustee had the honor of installing our new officers.
Shown here giving Karen the charge of office.
And,
Tom presented the “Gavel” to her.
Karen,
comes with experience, she had been club president of the West Bend Kiwanis
Club when she was a member there.
Karen
has already stated her goal is increasing the membership.
And
she plans to keep the meetings fun.
We
all need to back Karen in this for the club to stay vibrant. By binging in new
members, good programs and participating in the social events.
Following
the long standing tradition of our club, the past president presides over the coronation
of Queen Karen. Actually that tradition began when Dan Hargarten was president.
But who are we to buck tradition.

Hear
Ye, Hear Ye,
Hear
stands Queen Karen in all her radiant elegance.
All
subjects welcome her warmly.
